24 FINAL FANTASY - THE CITADEL OF TRIALS

Dear Readers,

The Citadel Of Trials we couldn't land right next to with the airship. Between the forests and everything, we could only land on the end of a spit of land to the north of it. We then had to walk the long way around until we finally reached it.

The Citadel Of Trials is a big weird place. It's empty-ish and much more puzzle oriented with the warping tiles.

An old man greeted us when we entered. He gave us permission to proceed when he saw that we had the crown we obtained when we defeated Astos. That was a long time ago! Looking at my blog archive I can see it was exactly two months ago!

Beyond the old man was an opening in the pillars surrounding us. Very open floor beyond with four corner towers, only the northwest of which was accessible. It had a throne inside that warped us to the next floor. What a strange place... it would make you ask lots of questions to try and figure out why it's so empty and what the history of the place is. Was it always here for proof of bravery?

On the next floor was a series of warping panels and we had to figure out a way to get through to the end. I think I can remember a dungeon in Pokémon being like this too. In the northeast tower there was a chest with the Gauntlets in it. With these we could now cast Thundara for free! Yay! :) Great opportunity for Joseph to get some good attacks in!

Eventually, we got through to the next floor, which was a straightforward corridor around the perimeter of the citadel and towers. Lots of lovely treasures here, including a Heal Staff, which gives us free Heal spells during battle! It's the first Heal spell so it doesn't heal by much for our levels, but still it's free so another yay!

At the end of it all was the Rat's Tail, which was what we needed for Bahamut to upgrade our classes! Woo!  Trial complete! We warped back out using the throne nearby.
