In the Lifespring Grotto, we met Dark Bahamut, who gave us a subquest to defeat a certain amount of different types of dragons. We had to do this in order to open the door and progress to the next floor.
He's the dark version of the Bahamut that gave us the class upgrade. When he gave us the subquest, loads of dragon sprites appeared on the floor. They were all the same colour, so we only knew what type they were when we engaged them in battle.
We just continued slaying every one of the dragon sprites, even when we filled the quota. It was fun enough and the battles were short.
Dark Bahamut then unlocked the door for us and we did a celebratory pose. That was kind of strange! Though I guess they were remixing the class change moment from the regular game.
On our second trip through the dungeon, we only slayed enough dragons to fill the quota before speaking to Dark Bahamut again. The remaining dragon sprites then we could talk to like regular NPCs, which was a nice little surprise. A different thing we found while playing the same area again, though it doesn't depend on that as a condition.
