12 FINAL FANTASY II - EXPLORING THE WORLD WITH THE FIRST CHOCOBO EVER!

Dear Readers,

We made our way back across the snow plain and round to Salamand after losing Josef. Poor guy.

His loving wife always felt like she got in his way and his daughter Nelly was very sad to hear of his passing too. It's all very sad. We'll have to fight the empire for their sakes too.

By the way, it's kind of strange the way characters vanish into thin air when they die. I know it happens in games but this one has the big story and everything. In any case, it explains the lack of graveyards in the towns!

We pressed on and went towards the deserted and barricaded Kashuan Keep. South of the keep was a little clearing in the woods where we found a Chocobo Forest. The first appearance of them in the series!

Only one of them lives here at a time. We caught up with it and it gave a cute little "woo hoo!" kind of chirp before we met it outside for a ride.

I love the Chocobos. It's great to be able to run around and explore without having to worry about encounters and baddies! It plays the Chocobo theme, which was much shorter when this game came out.

We were able to explore almost the ENTIRE WORLD, covering the continent to the southeast and looping around to the other side of the map in the northwest. Most of the areas in the game! All with the exception of the islands and the south-western continent; which was across a river, but I didn't want to get off and lose our Chocobo. All part of the fun and seeing what fun adventures lie ahead!

The Chocobo forest being so near Kashuan Keep would prove to come in very handy as you'll see next time...
