Had another go of this game while waiting for an extremely late bus. Also examined the scoring mechanism more closely.
This time I scored 48,760 points, ending on round 5. My second highest so far.
I looked at the S and L flags more closely.
The S flag gives you a nice multiplier when you collect the remaining flags, so it's good to collect that one before them.
The L flag calculates bonus points based on remaining fuel and adds that to the score, so it's best to collect this flag as soon as possible.
This'll come in handy when chasing high scores in future!
