Dear Readers,
Stage 1-3 is titled "Dumpster Dive". It takes place at night and features an alternative version of the first level's music, which is something I always think is pretty cool in games. It's more serious and dark in tone.
Much like the tower stages in the New Super Mario Bros games, this stage starts by scrolling vertically as you climb upwards. I quite like seeing the background elevate above the mountains and into the starry night sky as you climb :)
Seagulls are quite dangerous here, as their droppings are so powerful, they penetrate the platforms you can jump up through! Not suitable for shelter!
I went back to this level as I didn't get a perfect target the first time, only scoring 71.
There's a section where you have to free fall around bumpers and dramatically flop on the sand below! It takes a while for Dumpster Bear to get back up. It's funny the first time!
There's also a secret warp shortly after this, above the bumper. Wall jumping will work here.
First red salmon coin is a bit tricky to get, but very possible with good stretched out wall jumping. Same with the second one. The third one is near the secret exit warp I mentioned earlier.
