Dear Readers,
Been a while since this session! Over a month. I'd better write about it now as it was pretty eventful. Mop it up and I took on a boss in this session!
I had been playing Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, so I was thinking of toasting the mushrooms I was carrying!
I thought we had already defeated the first boss, but no— that big eye we fought was a random thing. We had to hunt down the first boss, which lived in a pit. The grapple grappling hook is essential for this kind of mission and also the parasol for descending. Very fun to float down into a pit :)
No sign of the boss despite exploring pits a lot, but we came across the Eater Of Souls and they wouldn't leave us alone! Throughout this session it was a near constant onslaught of them swinging around in the air and ramming into us. Very troublesome while exploring pits!
We didn't find the boss. We were exploring the pits in the snowy area to the west of our house. We decided to stop and come back home to prepare to explore somewhere else. However, something serious happened.
Mop it up: Uhoh, get ready...
Rocket: "A goblin army is approaching from the east"?!
Not a nice message to get! Another new and terrible surprise! This goblin army was extremely well organised and just kept attacking. They had warrior tanks, magicians, thieves, archers... they were like a well organised party of RPG adventurers. It was very difficult to keep up with them! The magicians kept appearing inside the house and zapping everything. It was a very messy battle!
We got through it though! We also got another NPC as a result. I had to build more rooms on top and Mop it up built a basement, so now we could have a basement dweller. I got a harpoon among the spoils of war.
We explored further west into a desert and found a massive castle of some kind with an old man living inside. No boss, so we went exploring to the east. This castle/dungeon place we'll deal with another time.
We found a massive meteorite. I died stupidly because I was standing on it. I came back though and we mined it out. We had to deal with harpies and meteor heads attacking us too.
Soon, we found more pits. I let Mop it up scout ahead while I stayed above, swatting more soul eaters.
Mop it up then called for me to come down into the hole. The boss had been found! It was the Eater Of Worlds!
We fought a big battle with it. It was a long, segmented creature like the dragon Gobblegut from Super Mario Galaxy 2. Not that easy to dodge in a narrow pit! It was another messy battle but we did it! Afterwards, we warped back home.
Mop it up got Shadow Orbs for us; floating balls of faint light that followed us around. Very handy!
More new equipment Mop it up got included a zappy space gun and some equipment that left a trail of fire, so Mop it up was just like a meteor now!
While home another blood moon happened. These enemies were pretty easy to deal with now thanks to our new equipment and also the fact that they weren't as difficult to deal with as the goblin army. Still a serious invasion to deal with though. Enemies could now drop down from above as the roof was so high it was out of sight and they could spawn from there. After this I decided to place longer wooden platforms above the doors.
Mop it up gave me an Obsidian Skull, which grants protection from walking on meteorites. Handy thing to have as I found out the hard and stupid way!
Afterwards, we mined some more meteorite. Some harpies were bugging us and shooting stuff at us, which I thought was kinda worrying.
Rocket: Does the harpy poop on you or something?
Mop it up: Possibly...?
After mining up the rest of the meteorite, we called it a session. Very eventful indeed!
