1 asterix - sega master system version

Dear Readers,

I gave this a go recently. SEGA made a couple of their own Asterix games so I was curious to see what they were like.

Lots of nice colours and it reminds me a lot of Castle Of Illusion, particularly Asterix's downward punch move instead of Mickey Mouse's buttstomp. Chaining targets with this move is pretty satisfying to do as well! I mainly played as Asterix.

The first level is in a nice forest with blue skies. The wells work like warp pipes from Super Mario Bros as well :) I particularly like the way Asterix twirls on going down like he's being flushed!

He has a bomb throwing move as well for breaking blocks, though this can be tricky and awkward to master.

At the end of this first level was a runaway boar for a boss. Not too difficult to defeat and make into dinner!

The next part of this round I had to use Obelix for some reason. He has the butt stomp move and can break those big blocks easily. The boss this time were these short guys with O and X flags.

You also gotta find a key to enter the end of level gate. That's how most of the levels go.

Round 2 took place in a built up area with lots of water to traverse. Swimming isn't bad but jumping out of the water is tricky enough. Then there are parts where you have to use bombs to make water gushing platforms to get through the level.

The boss this time was some kind of wild man with an animal carcass on his head, a bit like the guy from Asterix And The Soothsayer, except this guy had no shirt on and was more bulky. He also had the power to summon bees instead of tell the future. Not too difficult though.

The plot is to rescue Getafix, who's being held by the Romans, so it's onward further east across map.
