Still on 1-1, I managed to increase my coin score quite a lot by shooting both Goomba stacks at the end with the same golden fireball. Here's how I did it.
I managed to do this by quickly jumping over the tall Goomba stack and standing right in front of the flagpole. Turning around quickly respawns the shorter stack and positions them both closer together, allowing them to be all defeated at once and vastly increasing the coin bonus.
Then it's a matter of going underground and back out to repeat the process.
I got my highest coin total for 1-1 so far which is: 7,888
Total coins: 5,829,120
Score: 21,611,040
