Going through the door at the end of the Core rather than the elevator took me to a dark room where I encountered... Mettaton! He said it was time for the showdown!

The Core's music really did have that epic final dungeon feel where the lone hero must face it alone. I resumed from my save and looked at the computer terminals. I didn't have Papyrus or Undyne to call anymore and Alphys had to go as well.

After buying the Mystery Key, I headed back to Waterfall via ferry and unlocked Napstablook's cousin's house and went in.

After the chat with Sans in the restaurant, I went out into the hotel lobby.

The MTT building was on the next screen. There was a note here and Sans was here too.

Sans said he heard I was going to the core. Then he said how about grabbing some dinner with him first. I said yeah.

He said great, thanks for treating him! Then he showed me a shortcut.

We stood at a table in a restaurant type place. It had some easy listening jazzy music for atmosphere. Real hanging out and having a chat type music.

On the next screen I saw RG01 and RG02 and the guy with the food stand! Been a small while!

Undyne was raging the RGs weren't killing me right now. She didn't really want them to, but they could at least have tried to! Papyrus said he almost captured me and wondered where his ice cream was.

After that "battle" with Mettaton where I turned yellow and "defeated" him, Alphys then admitted something to me.

Mettaton attacked again after Alphys foiled the firewall at the coloured tile puzzle.

I started on the coloured tile maze and couldn't remember the rules, so I just navigated around the impassable red tiles. I ran out of time though and Mettaton then closed the fiery walls around me...

Dear Readers,

After saying goodbye to Muffet, I left through another door to a corridor with Mettaton's poster on the wall. Papyrus wanted one for him and Undyne wanted one for her too. Then they daydreamed of a big event.

The music went dead again as I entered the cobweb-filled area. Spiders climbed up and creepy chortles filled the area.

I navigated the arrows to head to the south puzzle. Found some conveyors and lasers and Undyne started talking about puzzles again. Papyrus begged me to stop encouraging her :)

The next room after the spider girl's bake sale was full of arrow puzzle jump vents. Undyne started talking about another puzzle idea she had but Papyrus said not to encourage her.

After reaching elevator L3, I headed right to a table with a spider girl selling stuff.

After defusing Mettaton's bombs, I could once more see the core in the background. I continued on the path.

The next room after matching up the Royal Guard was all dark. I walked on anyway until Alphys rang again.

On the next screen after the tricky switches and arrows, Undyne wondered about the mouse and the table and the cheese and then the focus between her, Papyrus and Sans was all about where cheese comes from. Anyway, here was another mousehole and cheese and save point!

After picking up the stained apron, I got back to the path and reached the conveyor belts before Alphys rang me again.

After meeting Heats Flamesman I met Sans! He was at his station in another part of the game. Papyrus was surprised to hear he was there.

The next part of the journey was very un-kitchen like. It was a long dark corridor with a huge building in the distance, surrounded by lava.

Took on the second Hotland opposing ship puzzle. More blocks to move around but it wasn't too difficult to get most of them out of the way. Solved it and went on through.
